Good Friday is finally here!! I hope that you and your family are able to make mass and hopefully the Stations of the Cross. I am hoping everything falls in place so that we can go. I don’t know how many of you were able to make Sunday service this past Sunday. However I wanted to share something I heard differently this Palm Sunday, and that was a simple change in wording. According to the gospel read this year (and now since it is late I am questioning my memory but I believe it was in Luke 22) where it is stated “Simon, Simon, behold Satan has demanded to sift ALL of you, like wheat.” As I sat there, I realized that “we” are ALL still being sifted and that this is what Our mission is here; and until we can become strong enough in our faith, we will continue to be sifted.
Good Friday Prayer
O Jesus, Who by reason of Thy burning love for us
hast willed to be crucified
and to shed Thy Most Precious Blood
for the redemption and salvation of our souls,
look down upon us here gathered together
in remembrance of Thy most sorrowful Passion and Death,
fully trusting in Thy mercy;
cleanse us from sin by Thy grace,
sanctify our toil,
give unto us and unto all those who are dear to us our
sweeten our sufferings,
bless our families,
and to the nations so sorely afflicted,
grant Thy peace,
which is the only true peace,
so that by obeying Thy commandments
we may come at last to the glory of heaven.
But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and thou, being once converted, confirm thy brethren. Who said to him: Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. And he said: I say to thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, till thou thrice deniest that thou knowest me. And he said to them: When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, did you want anything?
