God has laid no other foundation of our salvation, our perfection or our glory, than Jesus Christ. Every building which is not built on that firm rock is founded upon the moving sand, and sooner or later infallibly will fall.

At the beginning of our home schooling journey, I found it essential to provide our children with a strong  faith foundation. In explaining the idea of foundation, we took blocks and built structures some with questionable foundations and others with very stable foundations. We provide the stability by removing blocks and testing the safety of those buildings. As we did so we discussed the parable of the Wise and Foolish builders (Matthew 7:24-27 www.drbo) in the hopes of helping our children understand that without the strong foundation of faith they would be easily swayed and lost.  To my amazement, they have remembered that lecture and have brought it up from time to time.

We, too, must remember how strong our foundation needs to be in order to be strong enough to battle the many temptations that are presented to us in so many beautiful packages. May we not be swayed by the alluring facades of all that comes our way, but pray before each decision and allow ourselves to be guided.
