St. Paul to the Romans

And that knowing the season; that it is now the hour for us to rise from sleep. For now our salvation is nearer than when we believed. The night is passed, and the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day: not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and impurities, not in contention and envy:  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh in its concupiscences.”

Epistles of Saint Paul to the Romans  13: 11-14

God, Our Father, awaken us with Your touch. Show us the truth that we may be strong enough to face it.  “Let us walk honestly, as in the day”, that  we may be prepared to see with the light of Your  love what has been hidden in the shadows. We know we may not be ready but our trust in Y0u will prepare us and You will protect us.

So many of us are not ready to face the changes we must make to face down all the temptations. Those small temptations are our weakness. Yes, we can say no to binge drinking but social drinking is not the same , “I’ll just have one drink while we talk, no biggie?”  Yes, we can handle our anger with our children but road rage is an exception?  How can we make changes in our lives and when do we draw the line and say that some sin has to be acceptable after all we are just human. What does God think of that?
